The city's freshest major mall, opened 12 September 2026 in the Chanba International Port district: a flagship “first-store economy” stack of brands new to Xi'an, big food floors and the newest-night-out energy in town. For travellers it's the shopping stop if you're already out near the Expo quarter — not a cross-city pilgrimage.

01

What's new about it

Xi'an's retail keeps sliding northeast: this is the district's flagship mall, built around first-to-Xi'an brand stores (the "首店" strategy every Chinese mall now chases), oversized food halls and event-style atriums. Being three weeks old at the time of writing, it has the full new-mall phenomenon — crowds, queues at the buzzy stores, and a store mix that will keep changing. The indoor-climate blessing applies as everywhere: July and January belong to malls.

02

Should a visitor go?

Honest framing: this is a local-evening and weekend destination in the Expo-riverside zone. Go if you're staying northeast, if you're pairing it with the Olympic Sports Center or a show at Qianguqing — the three sit in the same quarter — or if you want to see what 2026-vintage Chinese retail looks like. Skip it if your days are full of terracotta and walls; the Tree of Life at MixC is the mall trip with a landmark attached.

03

The northeast cluster

One DiDi fare covers a useful cluster: this mall + the Olympic riverside + Sasseur outlets on the same World Expo avenue, with Qianguqing for the evening show. It's the least touristy quadrant of the city — which is precisely some travelers' recommendation. Full mall map lives in our shopping guide.
