If you want pandas on a Xi'an trip, this is the place. The Qinling Four Treasures Science Park sits at the foot of the Qinling Mountains near [Louguantai](/en/places/louguantai), about 65–70 km southwest of the city. It is run by the Qinling Giant Panda Research Center and shows the region's 'four treasures': the Qinling giant panda, the golden snub-nosed monkey, the takin and the crested ibis. Its most famous resident is Qizai, the world's only captive brown panda. More than 20 other native species, from red pandas to golden eagles, fill the smaller enclosures. Tickets are cheap at ¥30, but they are sold only online through the park's WeChat account, it closes on Mondays, and public transport is slow. Pair it with Louguantai's Taoist temples next door to make a full, easy day out of the city.
